Ellen was born in Kiladrun Monaghan, Ireland in 1842, to parents Ross McKenna and Mary Mckenna (MS).
She moved to Scotland to find work and married Mathew Carroll at Coatbridge on 31 Sep 1863.
They had one son (Mathew Junior) in Scotland, before they migrated to Australia in "The Light of the Age".
They settled in Nambour, Queensland, where they had a further four children who survived childhood.
She died at age 47 on 30th Nov 1889
Her many descendants nearly all live in Queensland, Australia.
