George Allen was born in Ireland about 1843.   His father's name was Thomas, and his mothers name is unknown.

On 18 Apr 1863 he married Catherine Smith in St. John's Parrish, Sligo, Ireland.   His marriage record said he was living in Sligo on Pound Street and was formerly of Kilglass.  George and Catherine immigrated to America right after there marraige and went thru Castle Gardens immigration center in New York City in Apr 20 1863. 

They lived in Scranton, Pennsylvannia and had eight children in 15 years.  He died on August 2, 1891, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, at the age of 48, and was buried there.
