Hugh Cunningham left Donegal in August, 1847 aboard the aptly named "New World". He was 21 years-old. He arrived at Castle Garden on September 21st, and gave his occupation as laborer. By 1850, he had a bar in Pittsburgh, married Margaret Jamison, who had emigrated in 1850 aboard the "Provincialist" to Philadelphia from Donegal, in 1853. By 1860, they had bought a farm near present-day Westville, NJ where they raised their ten children. They both died there, Hugh in 1901, aged 75, and Margaret in 1912, aged 85. We do not yet know about their lives in Ireland, except that Hugh had a younger brother, Adam, who also emigrated and the parents' names were George and Margaret. Margaret Jamison's parents were John and Jane.
