Married to Sarah Elizbeth Evans who was born about 1804. 

Hugh Doherty and his wife Sarah Evans came from Co. Tyrone. Hugh came first in 1846  with his two eldest children Richard and Sarah and settled in Manyunk, PA. Mother Sarah followed in April 1847 with the remaining children Nancy Ann, James, Samuel, Patrick, John and Hugh aboard the ship Superior. Their place of origin is listed as Castlederg. A son Francis was born in 1848. In 1856 Hugh went to Minnesota taking a government claim of 160 acres in LeSueur County and took James and Samuel to build a cabin. The family followed in 1857.

Michael, Ann and John did not move to Minnesota with the rest of the family. Ann supposedly married a Farrell/Ferrell. It is unknown what happened to these three.

Ship's list for North Star arriving Aug 12, 1846 lists Hugh-40, Richard-15 and Sarah-13 with spelling of Doherty and listing Hugh as a weaver.

Sarah emmigrated from Castlederg, Co. Tyrone on the Ship Superior coming into Philadelphia 4/28/1847.  She had their children Nancy (12), James (10), Samuel (8), John (3) and Hugh (1) with them. They stayed in Philadelphia about 10 years before going to Minnesota.

THERE WERE 184 PASSENGERS LISTED FROM CASTLEDERG.  WAS CASTLEDERG JUST A STOPPING OFF PLACE FOR IMMIGRANTS OR DID THEY ALL REALLY LIVE THERE?
