I am just wondering if anything is known of Hugh Jordans siblings. My Great grandfather was a James Jordan from that general area. He married a Catherine Walsh from Clonegal. Their sons were called Michael, James and Patrick. No Hughs which would be unusual I suppose. I don't have much to go on as regards information on him. I believe that Catherine was a farmers daughter whose family were not completely enamoured with the match. Perhaps someone on the site has an inkling on him. Thank you. That Martin Lennon mentioned in the preceding publicity was my great grand uncle. Of that I am sure.
HUGH was born on a small farm in Coolboy, Co. Wicklow, one of 14 children.
His parents were Hugh Jordan Snr and Kate Mulhall.Hugh's parents passed away when he was 12 years old. He spent some time with relatives in Dublin after their passing.
He married Moria Tallon of Ballyrahen, Mullinacuff in July 1893. Hugh worked on The Collattin Estate for The Fitzwilliam's as did all his neighbours. He died in 1909 aged 40 leaving a widow and six young children. He is buried in the Jordan Plot with his parents and siblings in Coolafancy Cemetery

Thank you Patrickjoseph35 for that clarification. I'm afraid I am as far away as ever as regards my Jordan.

I have sourced James Jordan's (my ggrandfather) marriage cert. He married Catherine Walsh (Kate) in Clonegal in 1878. His address at time of marriage was given as Ballyisland. This place name is hard to find although I did find reference to a Ballyisland, Carnew, Co Wicklow somewhere. His first children were born in Coolatin and baptised in Tomacork. Then he moved to the Rathdrum area. I have no idea how old he was. In the 1901 census his wife Kate is listed as a widow aged about 46.
I wonder if anyone would have any more information on this man. I think that Catherine Walsh's family were farmers in the Clonegal area.Jaybee
