Jackson was born in armagh in 1850 he grew up on a farm in derryscollop in 1871 he went to Newcastle-upon-Tyne to look for work and ended up working in a shipyard on the tyne river he returned to Derryscollop when his father John died in 1873. Jackson married Annie McKinley on 30th November 1876 in Dungannon then started a family he had 5 children by 1886 when his mother Charlotte died the farm was passed down to him which he ran for a little while before he passed it to his brother James and moved back to Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1890 taking his family with him over the next few years he added another 5 children all born in England by 1901 Jackson went to Greenock in Scotland to work in yet another shipyard leaving his family in Newcastle-upon-Tyne unfortunately in 1904 he took ill and died he is buried in Greenock cemetery
