I have recently found several DNA matches in both my Ancestry and My Heritage accounts that trace back to a Moses Bolger in Clonleigh, County Wexford. I have been able to find a record of one of Moses’ sons, Myles Bolger, who married Kate Shea/O’Shea in 1875 at the chapel of Pollpeasty near New Ross. I can trace their family forward, but can find no records besides Griffiths Valuation and some Petty Court records for Moses Bolger in Clonlegh. One of my matches has two of his daughters, Mary and Margaret, on both their paternal and maternal lines. Several others descend from Myles.. Moses may have been married to Mary Hunt. The 1901 Irish Census shows a brother named John Bolger (born 1840) living with Myles (born 1845) and his family. My great great grandfather, James Bolger/Bulger, was born about 1833/4. He was a blacksmith by trade and immigrated to New York City appx early to mid 1850s. I cannot find any records from the Chapel in Pollpeasty where Myles and Kate were married (can only find a civil record) and wondering if that is the reason I can find no leads on Moses Bolger or my James. Hoped maybe someone might have a connection to this family unit and know where else I can search. I did find a ship’s passenger list of a Joseph Bulger (aged 26), blacksmith, traveliing to New York City in 1851 along with James Bulger (18) laborer, Michael Bulger (20), laborer, Mary Bulger (25) and children Annie (3) and James, infant. Unfortunately no other information was given about them. All I know for certain about my James Bulger was that he was a minor when he immigrated. He married Ellen Mitty of Churchtown sometime beifore 1858 in New York City. He died in Brooklyn, New York in 1916. Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks!
