James Boyd Was born in 1836 in Cookstown, County Tyrone. He emigrated to South Africa in 1859. He eventually settled on a farm called Best View near Richmond in Natal. He was later joined by his brother John and two sisters, Mary Anne and Margaret.
In 1865 he married Annie Stephens and they had several children, including my grandfather, Francis William Boyd,
He died in Natal in 1922.

I have a Joshua Boyd born c.1833 in Cookstown, Co Tyrone. His parents were Samuel & Mary Jane Boyd. He emigrated to Australia in 1861. Married in 1870 and had 10 children. Died in Australia 1904.
