James is my 3 x great grandfather born circa 1795. He married Catherine Hayes Ballyhahill in 1821.

Two daughters - Alice and Mary - were born circa 1822 after which James disappears from Catherine’s life.

There was a James Connors involved in a Limerick Insurrection in 1823 and transported to Botany Bay.

Catherine and daughter Mary emigrated to Victoria Australia 1854.

Any thoughts or information on James would be appreciated.

Hello Margaret, Brodie here, i have some info on james, he has relations to me, ill have to dig up my files but there is very little info.

as far as i can remember in 1828 he has committed an assault on his landlord with a group of men.

In 1857, catherines wagon capsized into a river and she drowned. This was in victoria australia.

Im sure i remember somthing about james was in australia with her at the time but it has faded from my memory, i do remember she was with a neighbour going to church and it was the return trip.

Hello Brodie, I am so pleased to hear from you. The only details I have for my GGG x GF James, are Catherine's DC. There is nothing else that I can be sure of. The rest is supposition. The offence I have found for a James Connors was the Insurrection in 1823 but nothing linking him to Catherine. This James was transported to Australia.

I look forward to hearing from you again and hopefully solving the mystery one way or another.
