James Edward Manogue 1837-1902
Died at his home in Johnstown, Wednesday, January 15, 1902, at the age of 65 years, James Manogue, after a short illness of pleurisy of the lungs.
James Manogue was born in Callan county, Kilkenny, Ireland, in 1837, and came to this country at the age of 17 years and settled in Whitewater, Wisconsin, where he was married to Ellen Hannegan in 1853. She preceded him to the other world April 16, 1898.
He was the father of nine children seven of whom survive to mourn his loss of a kind and loving father. Possessed of a noble character, the friends were numerous and he was highly respected by all who knew him.
Fully aware of approaching death and strengthened with the last sacraments of the church he calmly gave up his spirit to his creator.
The funeral was held on Friday, Jan 17, from St Patrick's church, Whitewater, Rev. Father Riley officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Whitewaetr cemetery. A large concourse of sympathizing friends and relatives attended to pay their last respects to the departed.
The bereaved family have the sympathy of many friends and neighbors in their great loss.
