James Guerin was born in a turf cottage on the Curraghchase estate at Kilcornan, Co Limerick, He had sevaral siblings - Catherine (13/03/1834), Patrick (25/06/1837), Margaret (27/02/1839), Thomas (21/05/1841)Maria (07/07/1843). James emigrated to the goldfileds of Victoria Austrlaia in the 1850s and subsequently emigrated to the West Coast of New Zealand. In
