James Larkin was born in Tynagh Parish, Woodford, County Galway, Ireland on October 19, 1819. He married Ann Murphy on Feb 14, 1843 and came to this country in 1849, arriving in Boston on May 8. They settled first in Williamstown, Massachusetts before moving to North Adams, MA. He died in North Adams on October 6, 1903 at 84 years of age, the last of five children. He was buried at a family plot in Hillside Cemetery in North Adams.
