James Magrath, a freeman of Cavan, died Derryvackney and was buried at Drumlane in 1727. He had been active in the governance of the town and 3 of his sons were solicitors. He left sons Thomas, James, John, Edward, Luke, Boyle and Mark and 3 daughters, Elizabeth, Jane and one other. Mark and his descendants settled in Dublin, but little of the others is known. In James' will he refers to his cousins Luke Stanford (his executor) and Bryan Mageaghran (Magauran??)
James lived in Cavan at a time when there were significant movements in land holdings because of the plantation of Ulster. Perhaps someone could advise as to the availability of records on transplanted lands?
Also as to possible local family connections - I guess there was significant intermarrying among such families?
