James McTeer was born in 1697 in Kilkeel, County Down, Northern Ireland. He emigrated by 1730 to Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, USA. There he m/1 Margaret Anderson and m/2 Molly Sharon/Shannon. He had numerous children and has many descendants in the USA and Canada, including myself and actress Carole Lombard (born Jane Alice Peters). Descendants are now found throughout the USA and Canada as McTeer, Mateer and Meteer. He died 16 Feb 1785 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Because he emigrated so long ago, no one has had much luck with discovering much about his family in Ireland. We know he was born in County Down and it is thought he was from Kilkeel or nearby Ballymagaughey.
