James O'BRIEN was born in Waterford, Ireland about 1826. He immigrated to America as a
young man [about 1853) and married Mary KELLY on February 22, 1855 in Benton, Wisconsin
with Rev. Father Samuel Mazzuchelli officiating. The O’Briens lived in Shullsburg, Lafayette
County, Wisconsin almost a year where James engaged in mining. The couple later
moved to Seymour, Wisconsin where they bought a farm. They had ten children, three of whom
died in infancy:

Mr. James O’Brien died at the age of 88 on July 25, 1912
