Jane Kennedy was my 4th great-grandmother. Several documents link her to my 3rd great-grandparents James McCully and Margaret McCully. Extract from the 1851 census return: in 1917 the applicant Eleanor J Wallace, address 7 Movilla Street, Newtownards (of Miss Eleanor Martin) - stated her address in 1851 was Ballywatticock (crossed through) - the search found that the head of the family in 1851 was David and Jane McCully of Ballyblack. Another name listed on the search was Mary Jane McCully (mother of Eleanor Wallace), daughter of David and Jane. A tombstone inscription from "Gravestone Inscriptions: Volume 11: County Down" compiled by R.S.J. Clarke (1974) - Movilla graveyard - Erected by Hugh McUlly of Ballyblack in memory of his father David McUlley who died 19 May 1840 aged 60 years - above Hugh McCulley who died 14 Sep 1841 aged 30 years - also Jane McCully wife to the above named David McCully who died 18 Apr 1876 aged 92 years. This does not really match with the David McCully on the 1851 census but he may have been listed as deceased. However, the death of Jane McCully, aged 92 of Movilla St, Newtownards on 18 April 1876 ties in with the tombstone inscription. The will of Hugh Kennedy gives a clue to Jane's maiden name. Hugh died 21 May 1867 at Greenwell Street, Newtownards - he was married, aged 82, a farmer and James McCully of Greenwell Street was in attendance. Hugh Kennedy made bequests to his wife (not named), his brother John Kennedy and his nephew James McCully (married to Margaret McCully, niece of Hugh Kennedy). The executors were James McCully, grocer of Newtownards and James Rankin, farmer of Drumhirk. John Cherry, grocer of Newtownards, a witness (John married Jane McCully, daughter of James and Margaret).
