Migrated to/Born in Australia

My G G Grandmother was Jane Malcolmson who was born about 1832 and in 1848 she was chosen by the Earl Grey Scheme to come to Australia.  She arrived in Sydney on 4th April 1849 aboard 'The Digby' and the information I have been able to find is from the passenger list on arrival.

Her name was Jane Malcolmson, and the shipping list says she was from Cavan workhouse and she was native of Drumlane, Cavan.  There were other references to Killashandra, Cavan and Co. Roscommon.  Her parents were named as Nathaniel Malcolmson and Anne (Nancy) Crawford, both deceased.  She could neither read or write which would explain why her name on the marriage certificate was Makisson (result of a broad Irish accent).

Four months after arrival in Sydney, Jane married Thomas Joseph Turner an English convict, and had 9 children. Jane died in 1908 in Burrendong, NSW.

I would very much like to verify which workhouse she came from and where I might be able to find the minute books for research.  I have never been able to find any references to her parents or if she had any siblings and wonder if their names were made up.  I did find a Nathaniel Makims but nothing further.

Many thanks,

Patricia Harvey
