Jane Salter was my great great grandmother. She was born circa 1800 to 1808 in County Kilkenny(or possibly County Carlow) to William Salter and his wife Elizabeth Willoughby. They are found on the Mothell list of  1816 of those desiring to emigrate.

They came to Upper Canada (Ontario) circa 1816 settling in Beckwith Township, Lanark County, Upper Canada. There she met and married Stephen Tomlinson in 1822 at Perth, Lanark County. They raised 10 children: Mary b. 1828, Ann b. 1829, John b. 1832, Margaret b. 1833, Stephen b. 1836, Alice b. 1837, William b. 1841, Nicholas Joseph b. 1841, Peter b. 1843, and Thomas b. 1850.

They moved to Montague Township, Lanark County in the 1830s and then to Kincardine Township, Bruce County in the 1850s. Jane died there December 6, 1878.
