Jeremiah Patrick Sullivan was born on May 28, 1898, in Callinafersey West in County Kerry, Ireland. He was the 8th of 9 Children born to fisherman Patrick Sullivan and his wife Ellen Shea. He grew up on the shore of Dingle Bay near the quay at Tincally point in Callinafersey.

In 1920 he emigrated to the United States, arriving in Philadelphia on the SS Haverford and then joining his older siblings living in the Brighton neighborhood of Boston. There, he married Margaret Mary Spillane in 1926. They had five children together. He lived for many years at 40 Union Street in Brighton, where he worked as a warehouseman and driving streetcars for what is now the MBTA.

In 1928, after his father, Patrick Sullivan, died in Callinafersey, his mother, Ellen Shea, emigrated to the United States and lived with Jeremiah and his family until she passed away in 1955. After retiring he bought a cottage in White Horse Beach, Massachusetts where he lived for the remainder of his life. He died on July 13, 1983, in White Horse Beach, at the age of 85, and was buried in Chelmsford, Massachusetts.
