John Allen Burke 1918 : Short Biography

This was my Grandfather - John Allen Burke. I think he was born in Glace Bay N.S.  1918 died in 1977, but not sure if that is the right birthplace. He did live in Glace Bay N.S. on 1 Burkes Lane.

He had at least 2 sons named David (possibly John David Burke), and Roderick Simeon Burke. Both sons I believe were born in Glace Bay. John DAVID Burke married Mel and lived in South Bar. Roderick married Marilyn Joyce Nicholson also of Glace Bay.

I have some information on my Mothers side of family. Marilyn Joyce Nicholson, but can not track down the rest of my Burke family.

I think my Grandfather had a brother named William R. Burke born Dec.3rd.1909 died March 1 1994 he  married Mary A. born March 27th 1916 died Sept. 30 2007. They owened a lot of property along the Mira River, and resided in Mira Gut. I heard that my Grandfather's mother's Name was Margarate, but i cant confirm much on the Burke side.

I heard my ancestors came from Ireland on their own boats. Eventually running their boats from Nova Scotia to some Southern regions for trading puposes.
