John Bray was born in Galway, Ireland, about 176?. He came to Australia with his wife, Mary Downs, in the Second Fleet on the hell ship, 'Neptune' in 1790. He was a private in the new NSW Corps. He and Mary had 5 children. James, born on the voyage, died in infancy. John Bray died in 1797 in Sydney.
