John Brierly married Susanna Pyne in Kilrush , County Clare on 27th January 1827. In his marriage record (personally viewed in Dublin),he was stated to be"of the police", but so far I have ruled out all of the John Brierly's that I have found in the RIC.(Wrong ages or religion or marriage date or wife.incorrect.)
He was also stated to be "of the police" on the baptismal records of his first 2 children, 1827 and 1830. I have not seen original records for his other children, and have no other information about Susanna Pyne. He named his first son Henry, so if naming patterns were followed his father may be named Henry.
His son John Brierly came to New Zealand and married Margaret Galbraith (born Glascow, Scotland) in Auckland New Zealand on 20th March 1872. These are my grt-grandparents.
