John married Margaret Grainy of Kiskean, Boherbue, Cork on 24 Feb 1850. The emigrated to USA that spring and are buried in St Anthony Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. John and Margaret were a very successful farm family, creating a 640 acre farm, which was divided among their 12 children upon his death in 1887.
