Place of migration
Migrated to /Born in Canada
1817 John Crozier received a land grant in Cavan Township, Durham Co. I have read that British Consul in NYC, James Buchanan, redirected many Irish immigrants arriving in NY to Cavan and Monaghan Townships in Ontario at this time. Perhaps John was among these. Have read specualtion (haven't seen documentation) that John Crozier may have come from Cootehill in Cavan Co, Ireland. His wife at the time of her death was Isabella (1791-1864) also born in Ireland. I've seen speculation that her maiden name was Tremble, but again, no documentation of this. Censuses that identify religion including and prior to 1851 list John as of the Church of England. From 1861 on, he is listed as Wesleyan Methodist.
