The son of John Doak & Ann (possibly Irvine). A farmer in Ballynamullan townland. Emigrated with his wife, Jane Atwell Doak, in 1847 to near Toronto, Ontario, Canada. After her death, John moved to Manitoba to join his children, Mary Doak (Josiah Hunter), George Joseph Doak (Annie Richards), Margaret Jane "Jenny" Doak (Thomas Scott), Sarah Doak (William "Billy" Jones) and Fanny Matilda Doak (Frank Albert Adams).
