John Fagan was born on June 17, 1792, in the parish of Templeshanbo, County Wexford, Ireland. He married Mary Ann Clark from Ballycastle, County Antrim, in 1822 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They had four children: Daniel, MaryAnn, Margaret, and Elizabeth. He died on October 19, 1882, in Winchester, Virginia, at the impressive age of 90. He was a marble cutter.
