John FLEMING, Sr. of Kilworth, County Cork, Ireland was born on November 1, 1825. On April
20, 1849 he was united in marriage to Miss Bridget COLBERT, who was born in County
Waterford in 1827. The couple emigrated to the USA in 1849 residing for a time in Maryland
and New Jersey.
In 1853 they moved to Lafayette County, Wisconsin where they bought a farm in Seymour,
Wisconsin. In 1900 they moved to Shullsburg, Lafayette County, Wisconsin. They are the
parents of eleven children:

On April 20, 1909, the couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with representatives
from four generations from the vicinity in attendance. Those from “abroad who were unable to
attend sent letters of congratulations. . .”

Mr. John Fleming, Sr., died October 5, 1912, and is buried at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery in
Seymour, Lafayette County, Wisconsin. His wife died on July 5, 1919, and is buried in the same
cemetery.
