John J. Seymour was the son of John Joseph (JJ) Seymour and Margaret Elizabeth Anderson. He was baptized at St. John’s Catholic Church at 94 Ridge Street in Orange, New Jersey on 8 July 1852. His Godparents were Michael Tobin and Mrs. Reilly. The priest was Rev Terrance Kiernan. He worked as a hatter in Orange and was elected Chairman of the Orange Common Council in 1901 as shown in the photo below. His son, Arthur, was elected Mayor of Orange in 1908, serving two 2-year terms. John died in Orange and is buried in St John’s Cemetery.
