My husband is descended from Daniel McEllin, b 1841. Might Daniel be a brother to John?

John McEllin 1848, married in Manulla to Catherine McDonnell was my great grandfather. He is probably a first cousin to Daniel. John's father was Pat McEllin and his mother was Mary Sheridan. John was born in Ballinagran and moved to Manulla where he was married to Catherine McDonnell. I cannot find any documents for John's father Pat outside of Johns birth certificate and the birth certificates for his siblings. I am finding it difficult finding any documents for Pat who is believed to have been born around 1811. His wife Mary Sheridan is believed to have been born around 1819, They were married circa 1838.
