John was born Nov 1903, named after his paternal grandfather (JOHN LEARY).
He was tall and well built and was meticulous about his appearance. He spent most of his youth with his aunt Biddy and husband Johnny O Connor.He had varicose vein surgery done when his father Pats died on April 8th 1925 and was unable to attend the funeral.
He went to the U.S. later that year. He lived with Aunt Nelly for awhile before finding his own accomodation
He worked mostly in factories and suffered ill health for some time before his death. He died on Nov 8th 1969 three weeks short of his 66th birthday.
