HI Jane,

His parents were Richard and Ellen - I don't have Ellen's maiden name. On John's marriage certificate he says his father is a bootmaker.

My Dad and I have DNA matches to Pearse's from Kilrush; that might be a clue, but the connection could be several generations back so we can't take that as gospel.

Ok. Have you taken a look at the Clare Library website? They have a very good genealogy section and you can search by civil parish. Kilrush has a link which is here: http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/places/kilrush_parish.htm.

You can also check the civil deaths for Ireland which begin from 1864. They can be searched through this link: https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie

I will keep an eye out and ask a local volunteer to look at this for you as well.
