John married Mary Gillespie (born c. 1839 in the townland of Ballyworkan, daughter of James Gillespie and Elizabeth Cranston, died 13 March 1883 in Rockdale, Delaware County, Pennsylvania) on 15 January 1859 in the Portadown Church of Ireland church.
Their son William Pedlow (1859-1929) was born on 15 August 1859 in the townland of Ballylisk.
The family emigrated to Pennsylvania, USA, soon afterward, arriving in Philadelphia on 26 November 1859.
