John T Hickey is my great grandfather. He married first Margaret Lowden, possibly in Ireland. They had five children: Timothy John (1860-1891), Anna (1865-1904), William D. (1867-1936), John T. (1869-1930) and Minnie (1873-1894) before Margaret, his wife, died in 1882. He married second, my great grandmother, Eileen (aka Ellen) Connor (1846-1931) in Norwood, St. Lawrence County, NY, USA on 20 Apr 1884. They had James Leo (1885-1965) , Margaret Helene (1888-1930), my grandmother and Edward Richard (1893-1957).
John T Hickey was baptized in Donohill, the son of Timothy Hickey and Bridget Meehan (Meighan, etc) who were married on 15 Feb 1831 in Ballyricknane, Anacarty & Donohill Parish. They had three other children, with the following baptismal dates: Catherine Hickey (10 Oct 1833), William Hickey (23 Feb 1839) and Mary Hickey (01 Aug 1841). All dates and names found in the Parish Records of Anacarty & Donohill. It appears that Catherine and Mary both came to the USA and settled around Chicago, IL.
John T. Hickey died in a rest home for the elderly in Ogdensburg, St. Lawrence County, NY and he was buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in that town after a funeral Mass, according to his newspaper obituary. He worked for New York Central Railroad.
I have always assumed his middle name was Timothy, given his father's first name and his first son's first name - but have never been able to prove that with documentation.
I have the descendants of John's children, of which I am one.
I have found the rental farm property for Timothy and Bridget Hickey at The Grange, Donohill, Tipperary County in Griffith's.
