Just as an aside: there is in my community in Nepean, Ontario a Larkin Drive. Named I am told, like many of the streets, after the pioneer farmers who settled the area after the war 1814-18. Settled soldiers of Irish raised Regiments.

I have connections to Larkins from the Nepean/Carleton/Ottawa Ontario, Canada. My grandmother's (Clara Emily Collins-Turner) sister Bridget Mary "Bea" Collins-Larkin [1885-1968] was married to Bernard MATTIAS Larkin (1880-1956), son of Matthew Larkin [abt. 1824 Longford, Ireland - 1884 S. Gloucester, Ontario, Canda] & Margaret O'Brien.
Mattias & Bridget 'Bea' Larkin had 14 children
There is a lengthy story about the LARKIN family that came to Canada on the following website:
http://www.bytown.net/larkin.htm
This site has a wealth of information of those who emigrated from Ireland to the Ottawa area.
