Johnston was my dad's Grandpa and was born in Finkiltagh on 1 Jan 1837 to Robert and Jane Harris.
He was baptised in May 1837 in the 2nd Presbyterian Church, Portglenone. I'm guessing that his mother's maiden name may have been Johnston, she wasn't mentioned in the baptism.
Johnston married Margaret Rea in Cairncastle 23 Oct 1855. They had two children born in Antrim, then they came to Canada in 1862 and had 6 more. I now believe, through a recent DNA match to a Rea family in the Ballymena area, that Johnston's wife Margaret was from the same area. She was possibly working as a domestic in the Cairnacastle area when they married. Johnston was still living in Finkiltagh at the time of marriage and Margaret was residing in the townland of Lisnahay.
They are buried in our family plot with my dad and grandparents in St Marys, Ontario, Canada.
