Joseph M. Seymour was the son of John Joseph (JJ) Seymour and Margaret Elizabeth Anderson.  He was born in Orange, New Jersey and worked as a hatter during his early years. Around 1890, his family purchased a saloon business at 265 Main Street in Orange.  They named it Seymour House,  Joseph was the proprietor until he died from heart failure at age 39.  A photo of the Orange Music Hall with Seymour House on the right and an advertisement from the 1895 city directory are shown below.  Joseph is buried at Holy Sepulchre in East Orange, New Jersey.
