I have little to go on here,  according to cemetery notes , Joseph McCombs and wife Emily Mary Stokes were "Natives of County Armagh".  They may have emmigrated to Canada about 1832.Their daughter Mary Jane McCombs was my 2X grandmother who married Alexander Ainsley McConnell in Euphraisia, Grey, Ontario.in 1868.

According to a 1851 Census in Canada West, family with land in Albion, Peel, Ontario - George 65, Joseph 45, Emily 50, Joseph Jr. 20, Hannah 17, Emily 15, Elizabeth 14, Mary Jane 12,'s

I am assuming the George age 65 is Joseph's father.

By the 1861 Census in Canada now in Euphraisa, Grey, Ontario, Canada - Joseph 53, Emily 57, Lot 30 and Joseph Jr's and his family Lot 29, Joseph Jr. 28, Margaret 24, Elizabeth 4, Catherine 2

They were Protestants - Church of England noted on 1871 Canada Census.

Additional Information
Date of Birth 1st Jan 1800 (circa)
Date of Death 10th Jan 1883

  • I was interested to find this post.  I am researching the McCombe family and was wondering if this McCombe was part of my research.   I do not have this JOseph McCombe in my tree but it appears ...... after some research I have found some of his decendants that are a DNA match for the McCombe family I am researching.  I have found matches through the surname Govier.   If you have information you are willing to share please contact me at alblol799@gmail.com

    Thanks very much Alice
