Laurence McArdle and Catherine Gaffney married July 19, 1891 in Enniskerry and Edward McArdle and Elizabeth Gaffney were witnesses.  They lived in House #5 house in Ballyorney Townland.  Laurence and his family lived in a Class 1 house.  The home had 7 rooms and 6 front windows.  It was a farm with 18 buildings in addition to the home.  Laurence worked as a yardman and Catherine a laundress.  They also had a servant, Mary Kennedy, who worked as a laundress.  The 18 buildings were:  2 stables, 1 harness room, 3 cow houses, 2 calf houses, 1 piggery, 1 fowl house, 1 boiling house, 1 barn, 1 potato house, 3 sheds, 1 store and 1 laundry.  Laurence reports he cannot read.  Catherine died December 22, 1908 of phthisis pulmonalis or Tuberculosis (TB).  The 1911 Irish Census showed Laurence and his family moved to house #2 in Coolakay Townland.  His home was a Class 2 house with 5 rooms and 5 front windows, 1 piggery and 1 shed.  He reported he was a general servant and Martha did domestic duties at home.  Children, Martha and Laurence, died of TB at Coolakay.  Laurence remarried Catherine Kearns on February 28, 1922. Laurence died of cachexia and cardiac failure February 15, 1934.  His son Peter (living in Ballsbridge), was present at his death.
