Stayed in Ireland
My Great Granmother, Margaret Burke, was born about 1848 in County Galway, Parish Milltown (was Liskeevy and Addergoole), Townland, Belmont. Her parents were Michael Burke and Honor [Connelly]. In about 1870, Margaret went to New York, NY, to work as a seamstress to raise money for her dowry. She returned to Ireland in about 1876/6 and married Michael Raftery in 1876. She died in 1888. Her daughter, Honor(a) Annie Raftery was my Grandmother, who emigrated to New York, NY, and died in Clifton, NJ (she married Patrick J. Leonard of Roscommon (who also emigrated to USA).
