Grave at Movilla Cemetery. Erected By John Menelly of Newtownards 1832 In memory of his son David Menelly. Who departed this life on the 17th day of September, 1852. Aged 21 years. Also the above named John Menelly, who departed this life on the 10th November 1857. Aged 82 years. Also his wife Margaret Menelly, who departed this life on 26th November 1866. Aged 71 years. Also his son John Menelly, who departed this life on 21st August 1898 in the 80th year of his age. Also Marry Ann Menelly wife of his son John who departed this life 28th March 1900, in the 81st year of her age. Also his grandson John Menelly, who died 3rd August 1926, in the 71st year of his age. Also Elizabeth, wife of his grandson John Menelly, who died 21st March 1954 aged 84 years. Also his son Hugh Menelly, died 1st May 1905, aged 65 years. Also Annie Gilchrist wife of Hugh Menelly died 6th March 1929 aged 84 years. At Rest Also Margaret Best daughter of his grandson John Menelly died 15th September 1952. Eliza Jane, died 28th March 1968. Isabella, died 20th January 1975. The family owned houses in Greenwell Street and Georges Street. Margaret Chambers was born in Chirnside , Scotland (probably) and was married to John McNeilly (Menelly, McNeely) the most likely record being for a marriage on Nov 10, 1815 in Edinburgh. She lived in Newtownards until her death in 1866 and left a considerable will that included many houses and land around in Greenwell Street and Georges Street. One of their daughters, Lizzie Gregory, married her cousin Hugh McNeilly and can be found in the 1901 census at 138 Great Francis St and in the 1911 census at 5 Bangor Road. Another daughter of Margaret McNeilly and James Gregory, Ellen Gregory , married John Stewart.
