- Margaret was "under 21" on her marriage cert, which means her birth was sometime after 1865 (when civil records began).
HOME FARM
Gurteen is just across the parish boundary; and adjacent to the townland of Garrane (which is in the civil parish of Templederry). Both are just north-east of Templederry village. In Griffith's Valuation, the Dagg farmhouse is recorded at #1 Gurteen (civil parish of Lattteragh). It sits right on the boundary with Garrane and the building across this boundary appears to have been part of this farm, hence the variable address Gurteen. Garrane. PARENTS
On 20-Feb-1855 James Dagg of Gurteen/Gurrane married Eliza Ardill / Ardel of Riverfield in TEMPLEDERRY Church of Ireland (witnessed by James Ardill & Adam Hodgins). James was the son of William Dagg. And Eliza the daughter of John Ardill of Riverfield. Both farmers. SOURCE Nenagh GRO
- The only church record for baptisms by this couple was their last... in 1875, James & Eleanor Dagg of Gurteen baptised Elizabeth Dagg in Templederry.
- In 1876, James Dagg (1820-1876) died in Gurteen, age 56. (cause of death: disease of the heart).
- In 1891, their son William Dagg married Georgina Keays of Templederry parish SOURCE
- In 1897, their daughter Mathilda Dagg married William Ardill (son of James Ardill) of Riverfield.
Interestingly, on the same day, James sister, Margaret Dagg, wed Eliza's brother, James Ardill in Templederry Church of Ireland on the same day. It was a double marriage!
GRANDPARENTS
In 1826, William Dagg (James Dagg's father) appears on Tithe Records in the townland of "Gurane Otway" (civil parish of Lattteragh) which is very likely the same farm on the border between Gurteen and Garrane (Otway was the landlord's name) SEE titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie. He had just under 30 Irish acres of poor quality land, prone to flooding.
In 1848, William Dagg can be found at farm #1 Gurteen with a holding of 53 acres and is the only landholder in this townland with a house there.
- The only other Dagg recorded in the parish of Templederry in 1848 was Thomas Dagg at #5 FALLEENY (farmhouse and 68 acres) and CLOGHONAN (25 acres of land) just west of Gurteen, in Templederry. Relationship tbc.

- On 26-Feb-1859 (6 days after the Ardill marriage) James Dagg of Gurteen (bachelor "previously unmarried) married Mary-Ellen Holland of Shannon View Co Galway in Mountshannon Church, Nenagh (youngest daughter of the late Anthony Holland). James Dagg(e) & Mary Holland of Gurteen baptised 9 children in the parish of Toomevara between 1860-1875.
