Mary Ann Campbell was born in Elagh Townland, Ardboe Parish, County Tyrone. Her parents were Mary Hughes and James Campbell. She was baptised at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, Parish of Ardboe, County Tyrone. Her sponsors were Patrick Campbell and Anne McCann. on 22 October 1865 she married John Keenan and they had 4 children: John, Elizabeth, Helena and Patrick. In February 1875 her husband John passed away. In February 1876 she married George Booth and together with Mary Ann's 4 children they migrated to Queensland, Australia on the City of Agra. They settled in the Swan Creek district near Warwick, Qld where 5 of her siblings (Jane, Margaret, James, Bridget and Susan) had previously settled. She had 7 more children with George Booth. Mary Ann passed away in 1928. Mary Ann's story has been written by her great granddaughter, Pauline Peel. The book is called The Family from Elagh Hill.
