Mary Byrne arrived in Sydney NSW on The Albatross on 30 November 1841 as an assisted Immigrant. She was 17 (or possibly 20) years old and her parents were George (dead) and Ann. Her native place was Richmond, Dublin.
On 22 April 1843 she married Francis Gudgeon, a Ticket of Leave convict from Preston Lancashire, at Paterson NSW. They had two children John Joseph Gudgeon 1843 and Sarah Mary Gudgeon 1848. After Francis died in 1859 at Tambaroora NSW she married Stephen William Hillier in 1863 and had a son, Stephen, with him in 1865. She died on 24 October 1882 in Tambaroora NSW.
