Mary Reid b. March 4 1866 in Co. Cavan. Daughter of Michael Reid, Publican, Fintavin Cavan and Jane Fisher of Termon. Her father lived next to Billis Bridge in Fintavin. Mary came to New York after her father and mother died in 1884. She married Patrick Burns in White Plains NY in June 1885. They had 4 children, one of whom is my great grandmother. I do not think she had a happy life, her husband was killed on the Harlem Railroad in 1893, his legs were cut off whilst coupling rail cars.
I often wonder if her life would have been different if she never left Ireland but then...I wouldn't be here if she did. She died at age 49 in White Plains NY.
