Back to List

Mary was born about 1837 in the Bleary Townland of County Down, Northern Ireland. She was the daughter of John Uprichard (marriage certificate) who lived on Bleary farm 43. Mary married Josepn Upritchard, thought to be a cousin, on 19-Sept-1856, aged 19, at Knocknamuckley Church of Seagoe Parish. The image of Mary is a black and white ptotograph on a glass plate, hand painted in colour on the reverse side and thought to be about the date of her wedding (1856) or emigration to New Zealand (1862). It hangs in the Cheviot Museum, North Canterbury, NZ.

For further details see the entry for Joseph Upritchard.

Comments

  • Mary Uprichard  baptized at Donaghcloney COI 7th July 1835 by John and Ellenor Bridget  weaver of Bleary.  I see John and wife Mary in Bleary afterwards, but don't see John and Ellinor about.
