This is my fraternal grandfather.  He and my grandmother Mary Ellen had 4 children including my father James. I have been researching the family for years through Ancestry, and  Irish sources including a resident of Sligo. I have information going back to 1750 with Mr. (first name unknown) Cahill. What is the best way to share information with your site?

  • Maureen, does your Cahill research include a Mary Cahill who married Philip Feeley in 1852?  I’m trying to identify her parents because several descendants of Philip and Mary are DNA matches to my husband and I’m trying to find the connection.  Mary and Philip lived in Carrowwilkin.  My husband’s family (McIntyre) lived in Pullagh.  Any help you can give would be much appreciated.

  • Megan, Unfortunately, I did not see a Mary Cahill who married Phillip Feeley in 1852. During that timeframe there were 2 Mary Cahill's. One married James Carty, the other I listed below. She had no information listed except her name.

Mary Cahill, no birth date, was the daughter of Patrick Cahill born about 1790 in Cully, Co Sligo and Bridget Philips from Doocastle, Co Mayo. There is no other information about Mary, except her siblings were born about 1830 and 1842. Her siblings were Pat, John(Jack) and Thomas.

Sorry I could not be of any help. My DNA is posted to Ancestry.com under Mary Brown, in case that is the one you are using.

  • Hi Maureen, thank you for checking.  Maybe the second Mary Cahill was the one who married Phillip Feeley.  It gives me something to look into, anyway.  You aren't a DNA match to my husband on Ancestry, but these ancestors are so far back that it's possible your distantly related and just don't match.
