Hello Ged,
I am not sure exactly when my 2X GGF Michael Carroll was born, I believe it to be 1831or 1823. He married Elizabeth Dagnan, who was also from Tibohine, Co, Roscommon. The couple married in Manchester, England. I know they were from Tibohine because of two records- one census and two- a family member was told such news. Michael is buried Manchester in Philip's Park Cemetery in the RC area. He died 9 August 1884.
Because the family used the Irish naming pattern, it does get a bit confusing. Michael Carroll and Elizabeth Dagnan had several children in Manchester, Englad, one of which was my GGF, Michael Carroll, born 1851. He married Elizabeth Neary. My grandfather, James Carroll, was born in Manchester, England, but the family moved to Chester, PA where they had several more children.
Let me know what you think.

Hi Michael. it's seems we are descended from different Michael Carrolls.Mine was born and died in the Loughglynn/ Leitrim area of Roscommon. He married Bridget Egan and had 7 children, including my great grandfather, Patrick, an RIC man (1861 to 1941). Coincidently generations of my Parker relatives moved to Manchester, including my dad and it's where I was born. My I'm back tomorrow (7 April) to support my daughter in the Manchester Marathon. I've got Parkers in the Philips Park cemetery.
However we could be related from an earlier generation. If you have had your DNA profile done you will find me as GedP on gedmatch, though the percentage match would be quite small.
Best wishes with your research

Thanks again, Ged, for reaching out. I did do my DNA, but I am on ancestry. I haven't gone to a public site yet.
I apologize that this message is late. I am just getting to messages I should have read months ago. I hope your daughter had a good run in Manchester. My oldest daughter ran Cross Country in college.
All of the Carrolls stayed in England. I have been in contact with two of them. I mentioned the naming tradition: Michael, James, Francis, Joseph and Mary Ann were repeated through the many generations. I have seen Leitrim listed in the Roscommon townlands as well. I wrote to County Roscommon but was told they could not find my Michael Carroll or Elizabeth Dagnan.
I will let you know if I obtain any more information.
