Place of migration
Migrated to /Born in Canada
Michael emigrated from Ireland around 1815. He arrived in Newfoundland to work in the migratory fishery. This fishery was run by merchants from southwest England. They would pick up supplies and labourers in southeast Ireland. Most workers came from a 40 mile radius of Waterford city from the counties of Waterford, Kilkenny,Tipperary, Wexford & Cork. I believe Michael arrived with Thomas, Nicholas and Terrance Donovan. I am not sure of their relationship however both Michael & Thomas named their first child James so they could be brothers. I have had communications on this site that indicated that Terrance may have been from Lismore in Waterford county.
