Michael Hayes was born Oct 21 1827. The only record I have found is a church record for his baptism in Goleen, West Schull. His parents are listed as Michael Hayes & Joanna Mullins. I have church records for the baptism of 2 more children, Dennis Hayes bap Jan 10,1838 and Catherine bap May 6,1842. They had 7 children before emigrating to Quebec in 1845-1847 era. I only found these 3 at www.irishgenealogy.ie. I did find a William Hayes ( born @1816) to Mary McCarthy marriage record for November 11, 1842 in the Goleen Church records with the witnesses being a Mick Hays & Con Driscoll. This William Hayes was a son of John Hayes and Mary Driscoll according to my records. Family lore has it that the Hayes' were from Clonakilty but I have nothing to prove that. There were other children born in Ireland to the John Hayes/Mary Driscoll family but I have not found them either. Some other related surnames were Mullen/Mullin, Driscoll, McCarthy.
