Place of migration
Migrated to/Born in USA
Michael Gorman, born in Elphin, County Roscommon, arrived in Canada in 1846, made his way to the U.S., and settled in Defiance, Ohio. There he raised a family with German-born Sophia Hovestadt. They had five surviving children who lived long lives. Michael and Sofia are my great-great-grandparents. Michael's parents were Patrick Gorman and Bridget Nolan. I know nothing about them but sure would like to! I fear they may have died in the Great Famine but I just don't know.
